There are many things that we prefer to do in a certain way, but for whatever reason don't make it into the constitution, collective agreements, visitor infopage or any of the signs around the house. This page can act as a gathering place for those things. These norms are not rules: they can be edited by anyone at any time without formal process.

Cleanliness & order

  • immediately wet-wipe spills of anything that isn't water
  • in particular, don't leave wood wet or in water
  • entrances, staircases and hallways should be kept clear at all times
  • all communal items you use should go back to the exact same place, if you don't remember ask
  • ensure your personal storage locations are clearly labeled: if using a peg or box, you may wish to mark both ends/sides
  • specific storage areas such as the plate shelf, shoe shelf, towel line and bathroom shelf: every resident may take 1 place in each. People may take additional places if abundant, but should proactively clear them before they are needed by others with none. Additional places may be cleared without warning as needed, making sure the person gets their stuff back.
