User:Lb34/Dining room noise
people have (not) asked me (yet): why is there a bookshelf above my head?
defining the problem
- dining room is one of the noisier rooms at the moment
- especially when having dinner with kids
- noise seems to be a unhealthy
- room may exclude people who are in a sensitive state
- difficult to calm down and/or have a calm conversation
solutions that don't need any construction work
ask people to be more quiet
- pros: it’s good to articulate what you want
- cons: feels bad to hold ppl back, doesn’t work for long, doesn't work with kids
- probably needs to be done from time to time
not joining dinner when feeling sensitive
- pros: no changes needed
- cons: passively excluding, could lead to frustration, sickness
About reducing sound reflection
Problems
- people make quite a science out of it and only spend time with reading about different options (it’s a science though)
- making changes to crucial rooms feels like a very sensitive operation
- hanging stuff on the wall over head height might annoy people
- (sub)conscious fear of things falling down
- room could seem more cluttered
basic technical knowledge
- there's sound reflection and sound transmission

- Desire to have less clutter in dining room, Larissa seems she may start doing stuff
- [Liou] could someone elaborate more on the clutter part?
- Desire to keep Piano room as main book room
- (Book sorting as a parallel issue mentioned, Marynia mentioned interest)
- Desire for there to be a clearer concept
- Doug find is a bit claustrophobic, and enjoys rooms without stuff above head heigh, but not opposing
