User:Lb34/Dining room noise
people have (not) asked me (yet): why is there a bookshelf above my head?
defining the problem
- dining room is one of the noisier rooms at the moment
- especially when having dinner with kids
- noise seems to be a unhealthy
- room may exclude people who are in a sensitive state
possible solutions
- remind people to be quieter
- pros: it’s good to articulate what you want
- cons: feels bad to hold ppl back, doesn’t work for long
- probably needs to be done from time to time
- not joining dinner when feeling sensitive
- pros: no changes needed
- cons: passively excluding, could lead to frustration, sickness
- put things in the room to trap sound reflection
About reducing sound reflection
Problems
- people make quite a science out of it and only spend time with reading about different options (it’s a science though)
- requires changing a room, which also affects people
- hanging stuff on the wall over head height might scare people
